Dragon Age: Origins 4GB/LAA Patch Guide to Fix Crashing

Описание: Dragon Age: Origins is an old game. It came out in 2009, and it has a memory leak that never got fixed to my knowledge which causes a lot of crashes. However, just because it has these issues doesn’t mean you can’t solve them.

The best thing you can do to minimize crashes on newer computers is to install the LAA (Large Address Aware) patch, also known as the 4GB patch, which allows the game to use up to 4GB of RAM instead of just 2. Of course, this doesn’t fully fix the crashes, so you may occasionally still get some (in particular, I get a few during the last parts of the game – fighting darkspawn in Redcliffe before the Battle of Denerim, as well as during the Battle of Denerim itself). I recommend saving often.

I know that there are other videos out there that explain how to add the LAA or 4GB patch to Dragon Age: Origins, but I wanted to have a video of my own to link to people in case they’re having these issues and don’t know how to install the patch. DAO is my all-time favorite game, so I’m heavily invested in getting more people to play and enjoy it. Consider this patch guide as part of my agenda to get more people playing DAO ;)

As a note, installing the LAA/4GB patch will not only solve most of the crashes in the game, but it will also allow you to install more mods that enhance the visuals of DAO. This is because the game can use more RAM and thus is actually able to deal with the enhanced graphics.
