St. Patrick’s Day is about more than just the luck of the Irish, it’s about tradition, community, and a shared sense of celebration.
At Grain Theory, that spirit brings people together in a big way.
"To me, it's an excuse to decorate," Grain Theory's Event Engagement and Marketing Manager, Rani Burk, said.

"It's just a time of celebration for everything," Grain Theory's Phillip Trevino, said. "I know he [St. Patrick] spread Christianity. Other than that, it's just a time for us to have a big party."
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated annually on March 17. It’s best known for people wearing green and celebrating Irish culture with food, music, and festivities.

In Abilene, Grain Theory celebrates each year by throwing a St. Patrick’s Day block party.
"We always have the Abilene Pipes and Drums come out," Burk said. "They come out and do a traditional Irish bagpipe performance. They're great. It's about 15 minutes. So we love having that just, you know, the Irish culture."
"We do traditional Saint Patty's food, Saint Patty's beer," Trevino said. "To kind of just keep in tune with with what we're celebrating."

For the past five years, Grain Theory has gone all out, decorating and preparing the block for a memorable St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
"I think it's so important to bring a vibe," Burk said. "You know, people just need a reason to party. We're super family friendly, so it's not, you know, a Saturday night out at the bar at 2 a.m. You just want to come in, hang out with your family and have an amazing experience. And we're here to bring the vibe for your experience."
"We just want people to enjoy this as much as we do," Trevino said. "So we want them to see that we're not taking it seriously, but that we're just we're we're in it, for everybody's enjoyment and stuff like that."

But the block party isn’t the only way Grain Theory is celebrating this year.
"We're having a giant Saint Patrick's Day themed trivia," Burk said. "Maybe someone in trivia will actually know where the green started and all that came from. We have some fun questions about shamrocks."

Burk said that events like these are especially meaningful to her.
"I'm a born and raised 'Abilienian,' and my entire life I have heard there is nothing fun to do in Abilene," she said. "It's just amazing to look out and have 3,000 people look like they're having a good time."
For the people who celebrate, this is something they look forward to every year, a tradition that keeps growing.
If you were unable to make it out to the St. Patrick's Day block party, Grain theory will be hosting more celebrations like this one. Keep an eye on their social media for more information about upcoming events
