The vessel sustained damage, as per the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), adding all crew members were safe. The incident took place 25 nautical miles (29 miles) northwest of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, the agency said.
It called on vessels to transit the region "with caution" while authorities investigate the incident.
The incident comes after US President Donald Trump warned Iran to immediately remove any naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz or face unprecedented military consequences. Trump issued the warning in a post on Truth Social, saying any attempt by Iran to mine the narrow maritime passage would trigger a severe response.
