In January 2022, thousands of Anganwadi workers and helpers protested in Delhi to demand better wages and permanent employment. Two months later, 884 protesters lost their jobs for striking, including Manisha, Anita and their mother Jaiwati. They spoke to The Quint about the financial crunch at home after being terminated -- from being in debt to cutting out basic amenities from their daily life.
