Hybrid workflow in Ableton Live explained. In this video I show how to configure Ableton Live for a hybrid setup using external synthesizers, analog summing, analog mixers, and outboard gear routed back into the DAW. In this Ableton Tutorial I will show some basics on analog mixing.
As promised, this episode dives deep into a hybrid analog + digital workflow using Ableton Live. I walk through my real studio setup step by step, explaining how I use external synthesizers, route them through analog gear and an analog mixer, and bring everything back into the DAW for recording and finalization.
You’ll see:
How I configure audio inputs and outputs in Ableton Live
How to use an aggregate device with multiple audio interfaces
Routing external synths into an analog mixer for summing
Using dedicated mono and stereo channels for kick, snare, bass, vocals, instruments, and FX
How true center / absolute center channels work in analog consoles
Hybrid mixing using analog summing and master bus processing
Practical workflow tips for planning cabling and avoiding routing issues
This is the first episode in a hybrid workflow series, starting with Ableton Live. Follow-up episodes will cover Pro Tools and other DAWs using the same hybrid approach.
If you’re interested in analog summing, hybrid mixing, external hardware integration, or advanced Ableton Live routing, this video is for you.
