I was looking forward to remaking this arrangement from the one from almost 3 years ago. The thing about my arrangements back then is especially when I used the synths and the wah guitar, the audio was essentially over-clipping and I didn’t know too much about mastering to be able to solve that at the time. But also in general the softer vibe in this one is due to the way the percussion is done as well, the drum machine I originally used for the old arrangement was certainly quite strong in velocity, but like I’ve talked about it before it would be very limiting in its articulations and in its programming. It was fun to work with some of the synths though, since I haven’t used them in a while.
As for the art, I do think it gives quite a different vibe to work with a square frame, it makes for the composition here to work more tightly. And I certainly spent more time than the art of the old one in making it. Trying to make Reimu look in an adorable way, as one might say. And actually making the palm trees in the background look like palm trees.
