A dioptre is the measurement of power in an optical lens.
Similar to a magnifying glass,an optical lens ultimately focuses light onto one point.
A dioptre is measured in inverse meters:A 1 dioptre lens focuses light at 1 meter.
A 2 diopter lens brings light into focus at 1/2 meter(50 centimeters),
A 3 diopter lens focuses light at 1/3 meter(33 centimeters),
A 4 diopter lens brings light into focus at 1/4 meter(25 centimeters),and so on and so forth.
