Crosswalk Grandview Pkwy

Описание: This was filmed in August of 2018. I had forgot all about how dangerous this crosswalk was before MDOT put in a HAWK light, which was removed last year for a construction project and I'm VERY concerned on whether it's coming back. Prior to that there were numerous crashes, particularly rear ending type crashes because one driver would stop for someone in this crosswalk then people behind would start crashing. There were also numerous pedestrian/vehicle crashes and you can see in the video how that kept happening. One driver would stop but always the one in the closest lane and then the drivers in the lane on the other side don't stop or they swerve over to avoid a crash and run right through that crosswalk. This was actually MORE dangerous than what it replaced down at the light. I'm looking to see if I have any old videos of that crossing which was terrible on every side and MDOT's solution to it for many years was to put a bucket of orange flags. If driver's refuse to see a WHOLE PERSON in the crosswalk I don't know what in the world make's car-brained MDOT think they are going to see a little orange flag. Needless to say it did nothing to improve safety at the crosswalk there. The other problem was the light would be red on one side where you could see it from the crosswalk but many people didn't realize it was green on the other side. I almost became roadkill there years ago for that very reason. That was pre-bike cameras but it gave me PTSD and I still play it in my head.
