Starting off the campaign of TrackMania Turbo with Canyon!
Obviously, the very first track is a very simple one. All there is on this track is the first straight with the obstacles, the right corner after it and the double drift turn combination in the second half of the track.
Beginners will be getting a first idea of how the CanyonCar handles on the different surfaces and at different speeds; also they will be confronted with a giant jump, giving them a first impression of the craziness of TrackMania - veterans will have a fun time squeezing out the last possible thousandths.
The first corner needs to be taken as close as possible to the inside wall. The possibility to speedslide that corner is given, however since the speedslides aren't as fast as they used to be in TrackMania² Canyon, I have my doubts it really pays off.
Prepare for the long jump and aim for the left half of the road, which will allow a much better angle for the right drift coming up just after the landing. Use the short offroad passage to initiate a drift and push to the inside. However, to keep maximum speed it comes in handy not to go super tight because that will make you lose too much speed due to the sharp drift angle.
Switch the direction of the drift right in between the two corners, make sure you handle the sudden grip increase during the direction change correctly. Drag out the drift to the outside of the corner to maintain speed and jump towards the finish.
To squeeze out some extra time, you can do some short airbrakes during the start drop which will ensure a slightly faster landing. However, I couldn't find a somehow consistent way of timing those airbrakes, so I just randomly spammed the brake and hoped for a good landing.
About the run, I've had one of my fastest starts and a smooth second half as well, so improving this will be quite hard. Unless other strats are found, I don't think anything faster than a very low .2x can be done here.
