Robert Rummer (May 26, 1927 – January 31, 2025) was an American real estate developer renowned for introducing mid-century modern residential designs to Oregon. Born in Davenport, Washington, Rummer's career took a pivotal turn in 1959 after his wife, Phyllis, toured Joseph Eichler's Rancho San Miguel subdivision in Walnut Creek, California. Inspired by Eichler's modernist approach, Rummer established Rummer Homes, Inc. in 1959 and began constructing similar designs in the Portland area.
In March 2024, Rummer Development was announced, led by sustainability expert, designer, and builder Aubrey McCormick. This initiative aims to revitalize Rummer's original designs, offering evolved floorplans for custom builds and neighborhood developments, thereby continuing his legacy in modern home design.
