Trash into treasure! Let's taco bout it 🌮😎.
I'm not saying I think we can solve our plastic crisis through crafting alone, but we can reframe how we view this now abundant resource and learn more about how it could be utilized one day if we all push to make it happen!
When you start looking through your recycling with intention you'll be surprised how much genuinely useful supplies you can find! What you might want to save for crafting depends on what you want to do with it but personally I like #5 polypropylene; as it is able to be melted down fairly easily and reformed. Plastic grocery bags and totes as they can be made in to bigger pieces of fabric for big art projects and styrofoam as it can be broken down and used for casting! with the bonus for all of these that they are not easily/ commonly recycled by commercial facilities (yet) so there is no whyere else for some of it to go but the landfill.
BUT be realistic about how much you can do without being overwhelmed . It's ok not to keep every adorable jar if you already have an overflowing empty jar cabinet. I know it's hard but let it go 🖤.
