Bugoma Central Forest Reserve is one of Uganda’s most vital biodiversity and carbon reservoirs, yet thousands of hectares have been lost to illegal logging and encroachment.
Ugandan authorities are strengthening legal, security and inter-agency action to cancel illegal land titles, secure forest boundaries, and accelerate justice processes to restore and protect Bugoma.
Safeguarding Bugoma means protecting water sources, wildlife, climate stability and the livelihoods of surrounding communities, for this generation and the next.
UNODC is supporting these efforts through generous funding from the the European Union and Denmark under the EU-Uganda Forest Partnership and Programme.
