There's no air on the Moon, so how can it be rusting? Scientists found hematite, a type of rust, on the Moon's poles using a NASA instrument. The Moon's surface has iron-rich rocks, but rust needs oxygen and water to form. Solar winds, which bring hydrogen, make it even harder for rust to develop. This discovery adds to the mystery since rust shouldn't be there without oxygen and liquid water.
