Roy Bloom, CJF APF1, works through the repair of a steel handled fuller that was damaged by not being struck in the center of the tool. In this case, the fuller was used on the shoe branch away from the body. That technique is more difficult for someone in the beginning stages of their training. It is harder to strike the tool in the center each blow and increases the chance of damage to the tool. This repair is done with a 100 grit belt on a FootPro 10" Expander Wheel mounted on a Baldor 1/2hp grinder. Roy advises not to heat most tools for repair if you are not totally familiar with the processes involved in heat-treating.
