This session is for beginners and includes an introduction to the basics of Value Streams from both a Lean and Scaled Agile Perspective (e.g. Value Stream Mapping v Value Stream Identification and Value Stream Thinking). We distinguish Value Streams from Business Processes, Product Lines, and Portfolios, and show how current ideas of Value Stream Design miss a foundational aspect of Value Streams.
Operational Value Stream vs Development Value Stream...This session clarifies the difference between Operational Value Streams, used to depict how a business provides value to their customers, and Development Value Streams that create and maintain the systems needed to support the Operational Value Stream. As large systems get more and more complex the intricacies of Value Stream Management and Design become even more important. Understanding the relationship between Development and Operational Value Streams is critical for organizing around value.
