‘Emotions’ is the second studio album from Mariah Carey released on September 17, 1991. Mariah had more creative control with this album; she wrote every track and took a hand in production on each song. She also worked with a range of producers, writers and musicians including Walter Afanasieff, who was the only hold over from her debut album, as well as Robert Clivillés, David Cole, Russell Freeman and Carole King. Three singles were released from the project; the title track ‘Emotions’, ‘Can’t Let Go’, and ‘Make It Happen’. ‘Emotions’ was the album's lead single and became Mariah's fifth number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the only artist in history to have their first five singles reach number one on the chart. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified quadruple-Platinum in the US and has sold 8 million copies worldwide.
