My first RC aircraft, a Carl Goldberg Sophisticated Lady sailplane that I built back in the early 90's. never had any really long flights with it, didn't have access to a high-start, and the electric powerpod of the day was so heavy and underpowered it was almost discouraging. Fast forward 25 years and I'm back in the hobby and motors and batteries have gotten lighter and more powerful.
3D printed powerpod designed by a fellow club member. 2212 motor running on a 3s 2200mah LiPo. Enough for about 4 lifts to 200+ feet and a bit of adjustment for landing. Running a FrSky GRX6 with the builtin Variometer so I can have altitude readouts from the transmitter.
