Описание: Ozone is very reactive towards alkene. Ozone has positive charged central oxygen atom which acts as electrophile and breaks alkene double bond. It results in the formation of molozonide/ozonide. Ozonide product is unstable and reacts with boiling water and ozonide product is reduced into carbonyl compounds. Boiling water changes into hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is strong oxidizing agent and converts carbonyl compounds aldehyde product into acid. If we want to avoid conversion of aldehyde product into acid, then we use zinc which converts hydrogen peroxide into water. Ozonolysis is used to locate the position of double bond in olefins/alkenes. This is a very easy, detailed, and comprehensive video about the terms which are discussed above and after watching this video, you will not need to confuse more about these topics.
