Over the weekend of the 6th to 8th October 2023, the Ffestiniog Railway held its annual celebration of its world-famous, pioneering heritage. (Bygones Weekend)
Featuring:
Passenger Trains from the Victorian Era, the 1930's and the 1950's
Freight Trains
Gravity Trains
Regular 'Mountain Spirit' Services from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog
The highlight of the event was undoubtably the public debut of new FR Double Fairlie 'James Spooner' - appearing in unnamed condition ahead of an official naming ceremony a few weeks later.
The loco spent most of the weekend at Harbour Station on static display, but did venture up to Minffordd on a couple of Freight Trains
Also in action at the event were: 'Meriden Emrys', 'David Lloyd George', 'Blanche', 'Lyd', 'Lilla', 'Britomart' and 'Moelwyn'
A big well done and thank you to all the staff and volunteers at the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways for all their hard work in making this event happen.
