What is Modbus?
It’s one of the most widely used industrial communication protocols, created in 1979 by Modicon.

In this video I explain how Modbus works, its RTU and TCP/IP versions, the advantages and limitations, and why it’s still so popular in automation.

We cover:

OSI model layers and physical standards (RS-232, RS-485, USB).
Master–slave vs client–server.
Registers: coils, discrete inputs, input and holding registers.
Typical configuration: baud rate, parity, CRC, and framing.
