STORYLINE:
An improvised explosive device IED exploded Sunday next to U.S military convoy southern Baghdad.
Smoke could be seen billowing from the attack which happened in Jirf al-Nadaf district southeast Baghdad.
US troops sealed off the area where the blast occurred but it was unclear whether there were any US casualties.
There was no immediate comment on the incident by the U.S. military.
