There are many ways to do something, but some are better than others. Here we will address common stances and considerations.
Center Axis Relock, or CAR, was developed in the 90s as a modification to the Weaver stance. A large number of officer deaths occur at very close distances, with nearly half being at 5 or less feet. CAR was developed to give officers a fighting chance at this very short range where they can still defend against an aggressor. However, this technique has since been replaced, though do to its unique look and use in entertainment there have been some bringing it back to life.
