Last week, the first prescribed burn of the year took place at Red Level Farm in Wilkinson County, Georgia.
The goal of this burn was to begin reclaiming the property and improving wildlife habitat. Prescribed fire is a critical land management tool that helps reset the landscape, reduce unwanted growth, and encourage native vegetation.
In the coming weeks, we’ll return to winter-disk several strips across the property. This process allows the native seed bank to regenerate naturally. Looking ahead to spring, we’ll also be planting milo strips to further enhance food sources and habitat diversity.
Intentional land management like this ensures the property continues to improve for both wildlife and long-term stewardship.
