In this video we are planting a bare root climbing rose called Rosa 'Paul's Scarlet in a container. This rose has beautiful scarlet red flowers that are quite distinctive.
Although in this video we are planting a climbing rose, the same advice applies with planting any bare rose.
Follow these simple steps to planting a bare root rose and it's aftercare ⬇️
➡️ After removing the packing around the root ball, soak the rose in water for at least a few hours.
➡️ Choose an open sunny site for your rose to grow. The more sun you provide, the better it will grow and flower.
➡️ Prepare the container or planting hole with some organic matter. Compost is great but farmyard manure is better.
➡️ Plant the rose with the graft (the part where the roots meet the upper part of the rose) a few inches below soil level.
➡️ Once planted, water well and keep well watered during dry spells while the rose is getting established.
➡️ Regularly deadhead faded flowers and feed fortnightly throughout the summer with a high potassium feed to keep the flowers coming.
