Tannirbhavi Beach
is a serene, "Blue Flag" certified coastal destination in Mangalore, known for being less crowded than the popular Panambur Beach. It is uniquely situated at the confluence of the Gurupura River and the Arabian Sea, offering both riverine and ocean views.
A Blue Flag beach is a globally recognised eco-label awarded to coastal areas that meet 33 stringent environmental, safety, and accessibility standards. Managed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in Denmark, the certification is renewed annually to ensure consistent high water quality, safety services like lifeguards, and effective waste management.
As of early 2026, India has 18 Blue Flag certified beaches, with the most recent additions located in Maharashtra.
