Hey everyone its Matt and in this video we are going to be talking about the venomous relationship between retroactive jealousy and social media. A lot people turn to social media when they are looking for answers. Maybe you have a question about your partners past that you don’t want to ask them… or maybe they’ve told you thing about their past that don’t add up so you turn to facebook, Instagram, twitter, and all that to find answers! I don’t blame you one bit… this was one of my favorite things to do once upon a time! I would spend HOURS on social media trying to piece together the puzzle, figure things out, compare myself to my partners exes, figure out if they’d been to same places we have.. and things like that. I thought I was protecting myself by doing so… But I came to find out I was all wrong. I was hurting myself more than I could ever imagine! Now before we jump in it would mean a lot to me if you could take a fraction of a second and go ahead and smash the LIKE button. This helps with the youtube algorithm and not only supports this channels growth but also gets the video out there to more people that need to see it, so I would greatly appreciate it! And one ore thing…kinda a disclaimer so to speak.. This video is about jealousy/retroactive jealousy and all that. I am not talking about cheating partners in this video. So if you are snooping around on social media or their phone because they’ve cheated on you and you are looking for answers or whatever this video really isn’t for you. This video is for anybody who knows their partner isn’t cheating on them or doing anything wrong… but they feel like they HAVE to go on social media to see pictures of their exes or go back on their timeline and find things about their past to try to add everything together and find answers. So looking for answers on social media was my favorite past time haha. I would be obsessed with it. If I didn’t want to ask my partner questions about their past to upset them… or if I asked them something and thought they were lying.. I could easily go on facebook and find the answer for myself! This started for me way back about 16 years ago or so. My first girlfriend when I was around 14, 15 years old and she told me about a time before me and her starting dating that she kissed a guy in our class. I remember this filled me with so much anger, anxiety, jealousy, you name it and I remember I would go on MYSPACE! Who remembers MYSPACE? Or am I really that old? But I remember you had top friends on myspace. Like 5 people that showed up on your profile page as your “best friends” and I would always look and see who my girlfriend had on there… I wanted to make sure she didn’t have this guy she kissed as one of her top friends. I’d go through photos and see which classmates she hung out with before she met me… see if she had any photos of this guy and her together… as if any of it mattered. But I thought it did at the time so I’d dig through anything. Back then texting was just getting popular as we all had our razors and slivers and so I’d dig through her phone to see if there were any old text messages I could read and see what kind of stuff they talked about.. if it was the same type of stuff WE talked about. I thought if I could control the situation in some way I could feel better. I didn't want to be the one that was in the unknown … ya know maybe other people knew things that I didn't know so I didn't want to be the one that looked like the fool! I didn’t want people looking at me and saying “wow look at Matt he's dating this girl but little does he know shes already been with 3 other dudes this year alone”.. “Wow theres matt holding hands with this girl in the hallway but little does he know 2 months ago she was standing in the same place with a different guy… what a fool”. its that feeling of everybody knew something was going on and knew something I didn’t know.! So social media was my way of thinking I could figure everything out so I could be one step ahead and have a handle on it all. This is a super flawed way of thinking because honestly… nobody gives an f. and that’s true. You are the only one that does. And here’s the important thing to understand….
