Recently, around 2,000 newly recruited police constables were assigned to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. On the very first day, 1,746 recruits reported at the Police Lines, including 380 women constables. However, the arrangements fell apart. Due to lack of space and facilities, many were seen eating their meals near open drains, on staircases, and even on pavements. The visuals from the training camp have raised serious concerns about the inhumane conditions under which these future police officers are being trained.
