The United States has a thriving criminal underworld. It's no secret that the United States has a high crime rate, but statistics show that things have improved greatly over the previous quarter century. The current rate of violent crime in the United States is 381 for per 100,000 residents, down from a peak of 758 in 1991. The United States government uses two classification systems to classify criminal activity. There are two types of crimes: those include physical force (violent crimes) and those involving theft or damage to property (property crime)

Aggravated assault was by far the most common violent crime in the United States in 2016. The next most common violent crime was robbery, and while homicide rates have historically been high in the United States, they still only accounted for roughly five cases per 100,000 people. Crimes against property are also common in the United States. These include arson, burglary, larceny, and theft or damage to a motor vehicle.
On the list of the states with the highest crime rate in Tennessee. There's no hiding the fact that Tennessee is notorious as one of the most dangerous and lawless states in America. About 200 rapes and over 4,500 thefts are recorded annually in Tennessee. In 2019, Tennessee was one of the states with the highest crime rates in the United States, with over 37,000 violent offenses reported.
Also on the list of states with high crime rates include Texas.
Once a shelter for weary travelers, Texas is now home to various criminal gangs that operate throughout the country. To make matters worse, only about 20% of assaults and robberies are ever recorded by the police and so never make it into national crime statistics. Given the high crime rates in Texas and the speed with which most violent crimes occur here, the chances of becoming a victim of theft, robbery, or any other violent crime are relatively high.
