OVERTURE – 1. Internationales Festival für Klassisches Saxophon Leipzig 2024

Vom 20. bis 23. Februar 2024 fand an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig das erste Internationale Festival für Klassisches Saxophon – OVERTURE statt.

Vier Tage lang präsentierten herausragende Musikerinnen und Musiker die ganze klangliche Bandbreite des klassischen Saxophons: von Bach über Mendelssohn bis Piazzolla, in solistischen Darbietungen, Kammermusik und großen Ensemblebesetzungen.

Mit dabei waren Henk van Twillert, Frank Liebscher, die Ensembles Vento do Norte, Rosa dos Ventos sowie weitere internationale Gäste und Studierende. Die Konzerte führten an einige der eindrucksvollsten Orte der Stadt – den Großen Saal der HMT, die Alte Börse, das Völkerschlachtdenkmal, den Alten Rathaussaal, die Blackbox der HMT und die Thomaskirche.

Diese Playlist sammelt ausgewählte musikalische Eindrücke, Höhepunkte und Momente des Festivals 2024 – ein Rückblick auf ein außergewöhnliches Ereignis, das das klassische Saxophon in all seiner Vielfalt erlebbar machte.

1st International Festival for Classical Saxophone Leipzig 2024 – OVERTURE

From February 20–23, 2024, the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig hosted the first International Festival for Classical Saxophone – OVERTURE. Over four days, outstanding musicians showcased the full expressive range of the classical saxophone: from Bach and Mendelssohn to Piazzolla, in solo performances, chamber music, and large ensemble settings.

Featured artists included Henk van Twillert, Frank Liebscher, the ensembles Vento do Norte and Rosa dos Ventos, as well as international guests and students. The concerts took place at some of Leipzig’s most remarkable venues – the Grand Hall of the HMT, the Alte Börse, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, the Old Town Hall, the HMT Blackbox, and the world-famous St. Thomas Church.

This playlist brings together selected musical moments and highlights from the 2024 festival – a look back at an exceptional event that illuminated the classical saxophone in all its richness and variety.
