One way to get to Longreach is by train and our good timing has seen us in town at the same time as The Spirit of the Outback . One of the great train rides of Australia, The Spirit of the Outback is a service between Longreach and Brisbane and takes 24 hours to complete. It's a great ride!

Nine seasons of drought up this way has brought tears to the eyes of many a farmer and in this episode, we venture northeast to Muttaburra—through some very hard country with an almost moon-like surface...drier than a dead dingoes dong... well you know what I mean.

This country was a whole lot wetter when the dinosaurs roamed it and it's not far from here that Queensland's first dinosaur bones were discovered.
