JEAN-PAUL GASPARIAN
Jean-Paul Gasparian began 2018 as a last-minute replacement for the famous pianist Christian Zacharias, playing Mozart’s Concerto no. 24 in Germany with the great Austrian conductor Leopold Hager. This year has also seen the release of his first CD in February, on the Évidence Classics label. This disc of Russian music has received unanimous praise in the press (five diapasons from Diapason, 5 stars from Classica). Gasparian’s performances have included a tour with the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra and recitals at the Printemps des Arts in Monte-Carlo, Toulon Opera, the Festival de l’Épau and the Festival Piano Jacobins. He was invited back to the Festival Radio-France in Montpellier, and also performed in The Netherlands, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and in Germany, Serbia, Spain and Colombia. For 2019, Gasparian has been invited to perform at the Piano season in Lyon, the Tonhalle in Zurich and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, as well as at series of concerts in Hanover and Berlin.
Gasparian won the prestigious European Piano Contest Bremen (Germany) in 2014, the José Iturbi International Piano Competition (Spain) in 2015 and the International Piano Competitions of Lyon (France) and Hastings (United Kingdom) in 2013. He was a semi-finalist at the Géza Anda Competition (Switzerland) in 2015 and the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition (Tel Aviv) in 2017. He won the Cziffra Foundation prize in 2014 and the L’Or du Rhin Foundation Prize in October 2016.
In 2013, Gasparian was awarded the Premier Prix de Philosophie at the Concours Général des Lycéens de France.
Among the orchestras that have accompanied Gasparian as a soloist are: the National Orchestra of Ile-de-France, the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chemnitz Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra, the Winterthur Musikkollegium, the Rouen Opera Orchestra, the Normandy Regional Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Republican Guard, the Radio Television Serbia Symphony Orchestra, the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra, the Murcia Symphony Orchestra, the Valence Orchestra, the Caen Symphony Orchestra, the Mosan Orchestral Ensemble of Liège, the Ostinato Orchestra and the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra, performing concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Gershwin.
