Now that the ATF has published their new brace rule and offered an amnesty to register braced pistols, I thought I would try the system out and come back to you with my experiences. I think there is a lot of misinformation and ignorance surrounding this topic and since I already have 35 or more tax stamps and know the process, I thought I would go ahead and try it out on a braced pistol I have little nostalgia or love for. I started the process and it was easy and just like filling out a Form 1 but without the tax. So here is what I am doing, have done and know so far.
