Backtracking is in order, but we're able to solve the weight balancing puzzle (I KNEW every random object that we could physically pick up would be useful). Another green orb is the prize, and then we go even further down still. Beneath the deeper caverns lie the damp caverns, a gaping space of waterfalls and rivers where dragon-like water insects that can take several rifle rounds come for us. A different race from the lizard-men. A series of carvings tell a hard-to-follow story. The lizard-men were at war with another race, but the story hints at something else.
With a stench of rotting flesh on the black waters untouched by sun for aeons untold, there might be something far worse than the Abomination that has been chasing us.
Tonight, we die.
