Department of Political Science, University of Hyderabad hosted a discussion between Prof. Akeel Biilgrami and Prof. Prabhat Patnaik on Alienation on Freedom on January 27th 2021, 7 pm.
Prof. Akeel Bilgrami is the Sidney Morgenbessor chair of Philosophy and Professor at the Committee of Global Thought at Columbia University, New York. His work branches out into two streams of philosophy of language and mind and that of political philosophy and moral psychology. Prof. Bilgrami is an active contributor to the current thinking on modernity and identity.
Prof. Prabhat Patnaik taught economics at the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning in the School of Social Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is a Marxist Political Economist and political commentator whose work has put forward novel ideas on the origins and dynamics of capitalism that differ fundamentally from mainstream economics.
The discussion was chaired by Prof. K.K.Suan Hausing, Head of the Department, Department of Political Science, University of Hyderabad.
Prof. Sanjay Palshikar, Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Hyderabad, acted as the discussant.
