Katherine, Northern Territory, Australia, was hit by its worst flood in 28 years after the Katherine River peaked at 19.21m in March 2026. This video follows how the flood emergency started from Stuart Highway and Victoria Highway road closures, to water pushing into Bicentennial Road, Lockheed, the levee line, Katherine Bridge, the CBD and the hospital precinct.
Using ground footage and aerial views, this report covers the flood peak, inundated homes and businesses, evacuations, shelter shortages, crocodile sightings and the dangerous aftermath as waters slowly began to fall across Katherine and the wider region.
Footage in this report comes from eyewitness videos and publicly shared posts documenting severe weather events. All creators are credited on screen where known. This content is presented for documentation, reporting and educational purposes.
