In perfumery, notes are the individual scent layers you smell in a perfume as it develops over time. They describe what the perfume smells like and how the scent changes from the moment you spray it to when it fades.
Perfume notes are usually grouped into three levels:

🌬️ Top Notes (Opening notes)
• What you smell immediately after spraying
• Light, fresh, and sharp
• Last about 5–30 minutes
Examples:
Citrus (lemon, bergamot), mint, lavender, ginger

🌸 Middle Notes (Heart notes)
• Appear after the top notes fade
• Form the main character of the perfume
• Last 2–6 hours
Examples:
Rose, jasmine, iris, cinnamon, cardamom

🌲 Base Notes (Dry-down notes)
• Appear last and last the longest
• Deep, rich, and long-lasting
• Can last 8–24 hours or more
Examples:
Oud, vanilla, musk, amber, sandalwood, patchouli

Think of a perfume like a song:
• Top notes = intro
• Middle notes = chorus
• Base notes = ending that stays in your head
