Dive into advanced applications of linear approximations in this lecture. We extend our understanding by exploring higher-order approximations, such as quadratic approximations, and learning when they provide more accurate results.
We then revisit the product rule and chain rule through the perspective of linear approximations, deepening our grasp of these essential calculus tools. Finally, we connect linear approximations with critical points—including maxima, minima, and saddle points—and highlight their significance in optimization problems that lie at the core of machine learning.
