Is your hot tub bromine level constantly fluctuating, leaving you frustrated and confused? Unlike chlorine, bromine works differently in hot water and requires specific conditions to function properly. Let's solve your bromine problems once and for all.
First, check your pH level. If it's above 7.8, your bromine won't work effectively no matter how much you add. Balance your pH between 7.2 and 7.6 before adding more bromine.
Next, make sure you're using enough oxidizer. Bromine needs regular shocking with non-chlorine shock to stay active. Add oxidizer weekly or after heavy hot tub use to keep your bromine working.
Water temperature also affects bromine. If your hot tub stays above 104°F, your bromine will dissipate faster. Keep your temperature around 100-102°F when not in use.
Finally, consider using a floating dispenser with slow-release bromine tablets. This provides consistent sanitizing power compared to adding granules. Just remember to check and refill it regularly.
With these adjustments, you'll finally have bromine levels that stay right where you want them.
