Vice President JD Vance met U.S. athletes participating in the Milan‑Cortina Winter Olympics on Thursday (February 5), shortly after arriving in Italy.
“Democrat, Republican, independent — we’re all rooting for you, and we’re cheering for you, and we know you’re going to make us proud,” Vance told the assembled athletes.
Vance is scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the Milano‑Cortina Winter Games on Friday (February 6) at San Siro Stadium.
He is leading a delegation that includes his wife, Usha Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Ambassador to Italy Tilman Fertitta, and several former Olympic champions.
