Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her Union Budget 2026–27 speech, announced a three-pronged strategy to create “champion MSMEs” across India. The plan includes ₹10,000 crore equity support through an SME Growth Fund, a ₹2,000 crore top-up to the Self-Reliant India Fund, and enhanced liquidity access via the TREDS platform. The government will also introduce short-term courses to develop a skilled cadre of Corporate Mitras to guide MSMEs. The measures aim to strengthen financing, mentorship, and growth opportunities for small and medium enterprises nationwide.
