This winter, I’m intentionally not doing a few things in the garden,... and that choice is just as important as any task list. In this video, I share what I’m leaving undone, including why I’m not digging dahlias yet, not rushing to clean up garden beds, and not buying new, expensive dahlia varieties.
These decisions come from years of growing flowers and learning that patience often leads to stronger plants, healthier soil, and better blooms. Dahlias need time to store energy, garden beds can teach us a lot when we slow down, and doing less at the right time can actually improve next season’s growth.
I also talk about something that’s easy to forget in winter — not comparing your garden or farm to anyone else’s. Every season looks different, and quiet periods are part of the natural rhythm of growing.
