1. Fort Tiracol
This ancient and imposing fort on the river Tiracol is perhaps the best preserved and most visited fort in Goa. The fort has Portuguese-style architecture and was built in the 17th century. The best part about this fort is that apart from visiting this fort, you can also stay here as it has been turned into a hotel for tourists. Watching Indian ocean from here is the best and most relaxing thing to do.
2. Arvalem Caves
Caves in Goa, sounds weird right? But it’s time to update your Goa bucket list with Arvalem Caves also known as Pandavas Caves where pandavas took shelter during their exile. These caves are located near Bicholim Taluka near the Arvalem falls, and can easily be reached by road. This place is not a common tourist place so it’s not even that crowded.
3. Chapora Fort
Chapora fort also popularly known as ‘Dil chahta hai fort’ is one of the most famous fort in Goa. It is just 10 km away from Mapusa, and can also be reached by climbing the hill from the Vagator Beach. This fort was built with the motive to keep a check on the various Hindu rulers during the 17th century.
4. ST. Augustine Ruins
A must see place during your visit to Goa. The tower that stands still even today is four-storey high and is built of laterite. The bell that once resided here was first moved to Fort Aguada and now to Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. The Church of St Augustine is situated around 10 km from Panaji via Ponte de Linhares Causeway. One can easily get a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to reach the Church of St Augustine from Panaji.
5. Anjuna flea market
At last how is your Goa vacation even complete without shopping at a flea market. If you’re someone who loves shopping and have good bargaining skills, then this is the perfect place for you. Be is Goan music, art, culture, fashion, you name it, and Anjuna Flea Market has it. When you are here, try and notice the Goan and Bohemian style and culture!
