In this video we show how the Universal Software Radio Peripheral(USRP) (TM) can be used to receive Mode-S beacons from real aircraft. A USRP N200 with a WBX daughterboard is used to downconvert and sample a signal with a center frequency of 1.09 GHz. GNU Radio and Python are used to demodulate, parse and process the data. The data is displayed within Google Earth.
