A rash resulting from itchy skin (jism par kharish) is an unpleasant, irritating sensation that causes you to scratch. The itch that comes from dry skin is called pruritus, which is pronounced "proo-RIE-tus". The skin dries out as you get older, so it's more common in older adults.

Your skin may appear normal, red, rough, or bumpy depending on the cause of your itching (kharish). Scratching repeatedly can result in raised, thickened skin that can bleed or become infected.
