"Everyday there are planes flying all day in this area, day and night so we are used to it. At 3 o'clock this morning, we were sleeping, and our children were sleeping with us, then the bombing started out in the front of our house. Since I'd just woken up I couldn't work out what was happening. It started a bit far away, but then the planes came again and this time it hit the neighbour's house. There was a huge blast and we couldn't tell what had happened."

"There were two big noises and so we woke up and we the whole family run towards a small mountain."

"Fifteen to twenty died."
Q: How many family members are in your house?
"Fifteen or twenty lived here, all are dead, now I'm alone
Q: Is it just you left?
"Yes."

"I don't know who would do this, but I suspect that the Pakistanis are behind it."
Q: What will you do now?
"Nothing. What can I do?."

Q: What can you tell us?
" We are definitely investigating whether a high profile terrorist was killed there or not, but still everything is in investigation. I can't confirm anything because investigation is on and after investigation I'll be in a position to say something."
Q: Has anything happened already? What is this investigation?
"I don't know what happened there. Officially when I'll say that will be the confirmed news, but still there is no news and still there is an investigation."
Q: When can we expect more news?
"Maybe today there'll be some official statement but I can't say anything more."

STORYLINE:

An airstrike on a suspected al-Qaida hideout in Pakistan near the Afghan border that killed at least 17 people may have targeted the terrorist
network's No.2 Ayman al-Zawahri, a senior Pakistani official said Saturday.


Many details of Friday's attack, including whether al-Zawahri was among the dead or even at the houses that were demolished by the air-strike , were unclear.

There was no confirmation from either the Pakistani or the U.S. government, but the Pakistani Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told The Associated Press that an investigation is underway.

He added that there might be an official statement later on Saturday.

Another senior Pakistani government official told The Associated Press, on condition of anonymity, that "there is 50-50 chance that some al-Qaida personality was at the home" that was hit early Friday in the border village of Damadola, about 200 kilometres (125 miles) northwest of the capital, Islamabad.
