Описание: The SILANGAN CHAMBER GUITAR ENSEMBLE (SCGE) was formed as a venue to pursue a common passion for guitar ensemble music. The group is composed of faculty and alumni from the UST Conservatory of Music, as well as the Colleges of Music of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, St. Paul's University Manila and Centro Escolar University.

The SCGE was formed under the leadership and artistic direction of the late Professor Ruben Reyes – one of our country’s eminent guitar pedagogue.

The SCGE aims to orient a wider audience with the guitar as a purveyor of classical music. The members chose the name "Silangan" as an affirmation of the group's Philippine and Asian heritage. The SCGE boasts a wide array of concert repertoire from classical to modern works for guitar ensemble. Since its conception, the group have performed in concerts at the Church among the Palms (UPLB), Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Centro Escolar University, St Paul's College Manila, The UST Museum, and the BGC Arts Center. The SCGE featured the works of Bach, Vivaldi, Carulli, Diabelli, Holborne, Moreno-Torroba, Tchaikovsky, Almeida, Machado, Dyens and York.

Equipped with guitars of varying scales and specialized strings, the SCGE have access to wider range of colors and registers to achieve a range close to a symphony orchestra.
