Описание: Kalam valley located at distance of 99 kilometres from Mingora in the northern upper reaches of Swat valley along the bank of Swat River in KPK of Pakistan. Kalam is surrounded by lush green hills, thick forests and bestowed with mesmeric lakes, meadows and waterfalls which are worth seen features of the landscape. It is the birthplace of Swat river which forms with confluence of two major tributaries of Gabral river and Ushu river. Here we are explored two lakes Mahodand lake & Saifullah lake both lake. Mahodand Lake located in the upper Usho Valley at a distance of about 35 kilometres (4 hours jeep ride) from Kalam.The Lake lies at the foothills of Hindu kush mountains at an elevation of 9,400 ft, surrounded by the meadows, mountains and dense forests. Similarly, the banks of lake are covered by pines and pastures that serve as a camping site during the summer. The Mahodand lake is fed by melting glaciers and springs of the Hindu Kush mountain and gives rise to Ushu Khwar, the major left tributary of the Swat River. This lake is often utilized for fishing and boating. Saifullah Lake is a small lake in Kalam. It is at an altitude of 9550 feet. It is at a 5 min jeep ride from Mahodand lake. And in the north it has a small track leading to chitral which can take you 2 days.
