It's called a leg vise because it's attached to one of the legs on the workbench, but I like to think it's because it looks like the stout leg of a dancer. It has incredibly strong holding power when torqued down, but combined with the smooth running criss cross system that almost bends like a knee, you can use subtle flicks of your wrist .
