Описание: Kallakurichi, situated in the southern tip of India, is a district in Tamil Nadu. Established on 12th November 2019, it was carved out of Viluppuram district. The district is strategically located along National Highways No.79, connecting Salem to Chennai. With the nearest railway station being Chinnasalem, located 15KMs away, Kallakurichi serves as a gateway to various parts of Tamil Nadu and India. The district boasts of ancient temples, mosques, and churches that are renowned for their historical significance.

Kallakurichi is renowned as an agricultural hub, often referred to as the "Home of Agriculture". The town is home to more than 10 rice processing units, catering to both small and large-scale operations. Additionally, textiles, jewellery, and agricultural feeds are prominent industries in the region. Kallakurichi houses two government co-operative sugar mills, a private sugar mill, and a solvent extraction plant. The presence of numerous poultry farms further highlights the agricultural prominence of the district. The name "Kallakurichi" is derived from the lush greenery along the river Gomuki, which sustains the village with its water supply. Formerly under the rule of the Chola empire, agriculture remains the primary occupation in the village, with several temples dotting the landscape. Notable temples include Suambu Sree Annamaliyar Temple, Sree Sadaiappa Temple, Lord Venkateshwara Temple, and Drowpathi Amman Temple. The car festival for Sree Sadaippa Temple is a significant event held once every twelve years. The village of Thenkeeranur, within the Kallakurichi taluk, is the largest revenue village, featuring two expansive lakes for irrigation purposes. Additionally, a co-operative society bank is established in Thenkeeranur to support the local farming community.

Kallakurichi District is situated at coordinates 11.7384° N, 78.9639° E, covering an area of 3530.58 Sq.Km. It shares its borders with Vilupuram District to the East, Cuddalore and Perambalur to the South, Salem to the West, and Thiruvannamalai and Dharmapuri District to the North.

Currently, the Kallakurichi district consists of 2 Revenue Divisions, 7 Administrative Taluks, 562 Revenue Villages, 3 Municipalities, 5 Town Panchayats, 9 Blocks, and 412 Village Panchayats.

The geological composition of the district is relatively straightforward. The majority of the area is comprised of Metamorphic rocks from the Genesis family. Additionally, there are three distinct groups of sedimentary rocks from various geological periods. In the northern region, the Kalrayan Hills form a continuous range of hills adorned with sparse forests and vegetation.
