Adams takes credit for NYC crime reductions, promises to continue ‘up into my last day in office’

Описание: Mayor Eric Adams is taking credit for the record-breaking crime dips in New York City during his time as mayor, attributing the drop in shootings, shooting victims and guns on the street to his strategy and collaboration with the NYPD.

"And we will continue to be dogmatic about taking illegal guns off the street up into my last day in office," Adams said, touting a figure of 25,000 guns seized over his four years at City Hall.

The mayor also took some time on Monday to honor five violence interrupter groups from across the boroughs that have aided efforts to stop gun violence before it takes place, offering the organizers keys to the city. Adams also pointed to anti-violence zones and technology as major contributors to the success of his mission.

"Taken together, these numbers place Mayor Adams New York City at one of the safest points in its modern history for violent crime," NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

Adams was steadfast that his methodology needs to be continued to keep violent crime down, and when asked his advice for Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, he simply said: "listen to Jessica Tisch."
